Environmental
Management Program
Most companies subject to environmental regulations are often
unaware of the laws and regulations that may affect their
industry. Often companies say “...but no one told me!”
Even those companies that are aware that they may be in non-compliance
with environmental regulations often find it difficult to
devote the resources necessary to address the issues. Regardless
of whether or not these companies are aware of the laws that
affect them, they may be subject to significant fines for non-compliance. These miscues not only affect a company
in the “pocketbook” but also help to put a company
under the regulatory microscope and tarnish their public image.
The Environmental Management Program (EMP)
provided by Bay Environmental Strategies, Inc. (BAY) establishes
a cost-effective organizational structure and provision of
resources to address the regulatory issues affecting industrial
clients, thus, reducing potential environmental liability.
The overall benefits for those companies that participate
in BAY’s EMP include:
- A company’s entire environmental program is consolidated,
and subsequently simplified, through the formation of a
working relationship with a BAY project manager.
- All aspects of a company’s environmental program
are managed or coordinated through a BAY project manager,
allowing these companies to benefit from BAY‘s continuing
education and experiences with similar facilities.
- Companies avoid devoting a significant amount of their
own time, energy, and manpower to managing their business’
compliance program, thus, allowing employees to remain productive
and focus on their area of expertise – manufacturing!
- Corrective actions are identified prior to a regulatory
inspection, reducing liability.
- A competitive advantage is created through reduced environmental
costs and enhanced image.
An EMP is tailored to meet the specific needs of a facility
taking into account regulatory areas affecting a facility,
facility size, on-staff expertise, and outside constraints
that may be present. Through such a flexible development process,
the time devoted to a particular facility by a BAY project
manager may range from as little as a few hours per year to
as much as thirty or forty hours per week.
The major regulatory areas that may be addressed within
BAY’s EMP include:
- Air Quality Permitting and Compliance
- Storm Water Management
- Solid & Hazardous Waste Management
- Wastewater and Industrial Pretreatment
- SARA Compliance, Reporting, and Enforcement Mitigation
