ISO 14001 Environmental
Management System
The corporate world is increasingly being asked to become more
“green” in order to increase the sustainability of our planet. Many
corporations have responded accordingly, by, in part, implementing a
formal environmental management system (EMS).
The ISO 14001 standard defines a set of requirements for
these environmental management systems. Since first being published in 1996,
the ISO 14001 standard has become the most important universal environmental
standard in the world.
The overall benefits for those companies that implement an EMS that
conforms to ISO 14001:
- environmental protection
- pollution prevention
- improved environmental performance
- improved public perception
- cost savings
- reduced environmental liabilities
- customer recognition
- increased product market size
The primary requirements of the ISO 14001 certification include:
- development of an environmental policy
- establishment of an environmental management system
- identification of significant aspects
- identification of legal and other requirements
- development of environmental objectives and targets
- creation of programs to implement environmental policy and
achieve environmental objectives and targets
- evaluation of environmental management system in order to
identify opportunities for improvement
Bay Environmental Strategies, Inc. (BAY) is able to lead companies through the
process of implementing an EMS that conforms to the ISO 14001 standard. BAY has
